Description

This Chewy Gooey Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie is a delightful treat that’s easy to prepare and baked to perfection. With rich chocolate chips and a warm, chewy texture, it’s ideal for satisfying your sweet cravings after a hearty meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 10 ounces chocolate chips, milk or semi-sweet, your choice!
  • flaked salt, for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Heat a 12-inch oven-safe skillet over low heat for about 5 minutes, then add the butter and let it melt completely. Mix in both sugars using a wooden spoon and turn off the heat.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and egg yolks together, then add to the skillet mixture, stirring quickly to avoid cooking the eggs. Incorporate the vanilla extract as well.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined; the mixture will be thick. Wipe excess flour from the sides or top with a damp paper towel if needed.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips, then bake the skillet cookie for 20 to 25 minutes until mostly set in the center. Sprinkle with flaked sea salt before serving.
  • Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For the best results, use a cast iron skillet to achieve that perfect crispy edge and chewy center.
Feel free to mix different types of chocolate chips for a more complex flavor.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
