Description

These Classic Fudgy Brownies bring together rich chocolate flavor, simple preparation, and the perfect crinkly top. Made with dark chocolate and chocolate chips, these brownies are a delightful homemade treat for family gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 200 grams (1 cup) caster sugar or granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 115 grams (1/2 cup or 1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 200 grams (1 and 1/3 cup) dark chocolate (45-70% cocoa), broken into pieces
  • 70 grams (1/2 cup) plain flour or all purpose flour
  • 20 grams (1/4 cup) cocoa powder, sifted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 75 grams (1/2 cup) chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 C (350 F) standard / 160 C (320 F) fan-forced. Grease and line an 8-inch square or round baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar and eggs. Whisk together until creamy and smooth.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine butter and dark chocolate. Heat and stir every 20 seconds until melted and smooth.
  4. Add melted chocolate and butter to the egg mixture and whisk until fully incorporated.
  5. Mix in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir gently until a thick brownie batter forms, then fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth it into an even layer. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is shiny and a toothpick inserted comes out almost clean.
  7. Allow the brownie to cool in the pan, then cut into small squares to serve. Store at room temperature or in the fridge, or freeze for later.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate with at least 60% cocoa content.
Make sure not to overbake for the fudgy texture—it’s perfect when slightly underbaked in the middle.
These brownies can be topped with powdered sugar or serve with a scoop of ice cream for an extra treat.
