- 3 large onions
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Slice each onion in half, discard the ends, and peel.
- Cut each half into thin strips and place them in the crockpot.
- Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper, then stir to coat.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or overnight on 'keep warm'.
- Once cooked, mix in sour cream, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and hot sauce until combined.
- Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed.
- For serving, keep warm in the crockpot or transfer to a container and chill for at least 1 hour.
Notes
For a thicker dip, drain excess liquid from the onions after cooking.
Feel free to adjust the amount of hot sauce based on your spice preference.
