Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
- In another bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and egg until well combined.
- Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and knead until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for about an hour.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the softened butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Spread the cream cheese evenly over the mixture, then roll up the dough tightly to form a log.
- Slice the log into 12 equal rolls and place them in a greased baking dish.
- Let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes before baking in a preheated oven.
- Bake until golden brown and drizzle with a mixture of heavy cream, honey, and vanilla extract before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use more cinnamon in the filling.
