- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups oil
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 4 cups apples, peeled & chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Spray a 9 x 13 inch pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt together.
- In a large bowl, whisk the oil, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and eggs until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and mix until smooth.
- Prepare the apples by peeling and chopping them to make 4 cups total.
- Gently fold the chopped apples into the batter until evenly distributed.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the cake.
- While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze by heating the butter, brown sugar, sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir the mixture frequently until it begins to simmer, then remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes.
- Pour the warm glaze over the cake soon after it comes out of the oven.
Notes
Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for added flavor.
Ensure to let the glaze cool slightly before pouring over the warm cake for better absorption.
Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 3 days.
