Description

BBQ Chicken Thighs bring irresistible flavor and simplicity to dinner! Marinated in spices and BBQ sauce, it’s a delightful homemade meal perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2.5 lbs chicken thighs boneless skinless
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 cup homemade southern bbq sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the chicken thighs with brown sugar, kosher salt, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, and avocado oil. Mix well to marinate for at least 4 hours or up to overnight.
  2. Take the chicken out of the fridge 30 minutes prior to cooking.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Place chicken thighs on the grill and reduce the heat to medium. Cook for several minutes on each side until charred and marked.
  5. When almost cooked through, baste chicken with BBQ sauce and move to indirect heat to allow the sauce to absorb as chicken finishes cooking.
  6. Monitor internal temperature; once it reaches 175-190°F for dark meat (or 165°F for white meat), remove from heat and serve with extra BBQ sauce.

Notes

Marinating overnight enhances flavors even more.
Adjust cooking time depending on thickness of chicken thighs.
Serve with a side of coleslaw or corn for a complete summer meal.
