Description

Caramel Apple Trifles feature layers of soft pound cake, sweet apples, and whipped cream, making it a delightful and easy dessert perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 granny smith apples
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 12 ounces pound cake
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip
  • 6 tablespoons caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the apples into small cubes and place them in a medium saucepan.
  2. Add the lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar, and stir well.
  3. Simmer the mixture over medium heat for about 10 minutes until the apples soften and the sugar melts into a syrup. Let it cool slightly.
  4. Cut the pound cake into bite-sized cubes and prepare a piping bag with Cool Whip.
  5. Begin layering in serving glasses: start with pound cake cubes, then add a layer of the apple mixture, followed by caramel sauce and Cool Whip.
  6. Repeat the layers: pound cake, apples, caramel, and Cool Whip. Finish with an extra caramel drizzle on top.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, substitute the pound cake with a gluten-free cake mix.
This dessert can be made a few hours in advance and kept in the fridge before serving.
Feel free to experiment with other fruit toppings if desired.
