- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups chicken broth
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Pound the chicken breasts to about ½ to ¾ inch thickness for even cooking or slice large breasts in half horizontally.
- Season both sides of the chicken with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Place flour in a shallow bowl and lightly dredge the chicken, shaking off excess flour.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the chicken and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side until golden brown. The chicken does not need to be fully cooked at this stage. Transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside.
Notes
For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken in the seasoning mix for an hour before cooking.
If you prefer a thicker gravy, add a bit more flour during the preparation of the gravy.
Garnish with fresh parsley right before serving for a pop of color.
