Description
These Easy Donut Holes are a delightful treat, featuring a gooey dough made with all-purpose flour and heavy whipping cream. Perfect for quick snacks or dessert!
Ingredients
Scale
- 5 cups vegetable oil
- 2 cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- ½ cup whole milk
- Toppings – see notes.
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add the heavy whipping cream and milk, stirring with a wooden spoon until a gooey dough forms.
- Using a cookie scoop, scoop out 1 tablespoon of dough at a time. You can directly place them in the hot oil or chill on a lined baking sheet while heating the oil.
- Heat vegetable oil in a saucepan to 350°F, ensuring you have a thermometer to check the temperature. Prepare a cookie sheet lined with paper towels nearby.
- Fry 3-4 donut holes at once, avoiding overcrowding to maintain oil temperature. Fry for about 3-5 minutes until golden brown, flipping halfway through.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove donut holes and let them drain on the paper towel-lined sheet. Cool slightly before rolling in cinnamon sugar or glazing.
Notes
Ensure the oil is maintained at the right temperature to avoid undercooking or burning the donut holes.
Chill the dough balls prior to frying if you’re not frying immediately for better results.
Experiment with different toppings like glazing or powdered sugar!
