Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast, cut or pounded thin
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup oil, + more as needed
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
Instructions
- Pour buttermilk over chicken breast to coat and refrigerate while preparing coating and honey.
- Mix flour, paprika, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish.
- In a small bowl, whisk honey, red pepper flakes, and hot sauce. Set aside.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk and coat with the flour mixture on both sides.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat and add chicken pieces without crowding the pan.
- Cook chicken for 3-4 minutes, flip, and continue until internal temperature reaches 165˚F, about 4-5 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate.
- Repeat cooking until all chicken is done, adding oil as necessary. Drizzle hot honey over chicken or serve on the side.
Notes
For extra crispiness, make sure to coat the chicken thoroughly in flour.
Adjust the level of heat by adding more or less red pepper flakes based on preference.
Let the chicken rest for a minute after frying to retain juices.
