Description

These Pumpkin Churros are a delightful twist on the classic treat, featuring a blend of pumpkin puree and warm spices. Perfect for sharing, they come with a smooth cream cheese dip that makes them a must-try for dessert enthusiasts seeking simple, homemade flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 quart vegetable oil for frying
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing the cinnamon maple cream cheese dip.
  2. Beat together cream cheese, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, light brown sugar, milk, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and maple syrup until smooth using an electric mixer.
  3. Refrigerate the dip until it's time to serve.
  4. In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon to create the churro coating and set aside.
  5. Prepare a plate lined with paper towels for draining the churros after frying.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together water, pumpkin puree, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  7. Add all-purpose flour, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1/2 teaspoon salt, stirring until a smooth dough forms with a wooden spoon.
  8. Transfer the churro dough into a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip for piping.
  9. Heat 1 quart vegetable oil in a deep-fryer, deep skillet, or Dutch oven to 375 degrees F, using a thermometer for accuracy.
  10. Carefully pipe 4-inch strips of dough into the hot oil, frying 3 or 4 at a time to prevent overcrowding.
  11. Fry each churro until golden brown, approximately 2 minutes per side.
  12. Remove the churros from the oil and place them on the prepared paper towel-lined plate to drain for about 1 minute.
  13. When warm, quickly toss the churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.
  14. Serve the Pumpkin Churros warm alongside the chilled cinnamon maple cream cheese dip.

Notes

Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature for perfect frying.
Churros are best served immediately after frying for optimal taste and texture.
Feel free to vary the spices in the cream cheese dip for your preferred flavor.
