Description

This vibrant Red, White and Blue Fruit Salad is perfect for summer gatherings. Its sweetness, simplicity, and use of fresh fruits create an irresistible dish that can brighten any table. Quick to prepare and delightful to eat, it’s an excellent choice for family picnics or celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 small seedless watermelon or 1/2 of a large watermelon
  • 8 apples optionally reserve 1 for making stars
  • ½ yellow honeydew melon
  • 4 cups strawberries stems removed
  • 2 cups raspberries
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 1 cup red grapes
  • 1 cup blackberries
  • lemon juice for soaking apples, 1 tablespoon per 1 cup of water

Instructions

  1. Wash all fruit thoroughly and let them dry.
  2. Chop the watermelon, apples, and honeydew melon into small, manageable pieces. Slice strawberries as needed based on size. If you’re not serving right away, soak the apple pieces in a mixture of lemon juice and water for at least 10 minutes to keep them fresh.
  3. Begin assembling the fruit salad by layering blueberries and blackberries on the top left to simulate a flag. Alternate layers of red and white fruits until the dish is filled or you run out of fruit.
  4. For a decorative touch, slice one apple using a star cookie cutter and place the apple stars on top of the blue layer for that festive look.

Notes
