Description

This Salmon Bowl is a flavorful and healthy option packed with juicy salmon, zesty orange, and savory soy sauce, making it perfect for a quick dinner or a wholesome meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound skinless salmon fillets cut into 1-inch pieces
  • ½ teaspoon salt divided
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 large orange juiced and zested (about ½ cup of juice and 1 teaspoon of zest)
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil divided
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional
  • cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon dry and season it with ¼ teaspoon of salt and pepper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey, orange zest, orange juice, ginger, and sesame oil. Add the salmon and toss gently, then let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. In a large nonstick skillet, heat 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Using a slotted spoon, take the salmon out of the marinade (keeping the marinade) and add it to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2 minutes without stirring, until lightly browned. Flip and cook for another 2 minutes, or until just cooked through. Set aside on a plate.
  5. Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring gently until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy. Add the salmon back to the sauce and stir to coat evenly.
  6. Serve the salmon over cooked rice and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Notes

For added flavor, serve with your favorite vegetables.
Feel free to substitute honey with maple syrup for a different sweetness.
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
